Unseen Academy is run by The Unseen Group Ltd (company number 17111170). The safety and welfare of every child in our classes comes first. This page explains who to contact if you’re worried about a child, and the checks we carry out on the people who work with them.

2. If you’re worried about a child
If you’re a parent, carer, child or anyone else with a concern about a child at Unseen Academy Kids, please tell us. You don’t need to be sure, and no concern is too small.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
- Otherwise, contact our DSL, Lucy Mogilner, at lucyolivia@theunseen.co.uk, or speak to any teacher in person.
- If your concern is about the DSL, or you’d rather not speak to us, contact Islington Children’s Services on 020 7527 7400 or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
Children can talk to any teacher they trust, or call Childline free on 0800 1111.
3. Checks on staff
Everyone who regularly teaches or supervises children in our classes has an enhanced DBS check, including a check of the children’s barred list, before they start. We will never allow anyone who is barred from working with children to do so.
If we ever remove someone from working with children because they have harmed a child, or might pose a risk to children, we will refer them to the Disclosure and Barring Service, as the law requires.
4. Professional performance work
If a student is offered paid or professional performance work, such as film, TV, theatre or commercials, the law usually requires a child performance licence from the child’s local council. Children working away from their parents must be looked after by a council-approved chaperone. We will never put a child forward for an unlicensed production.
5. Records
We record safeguarding concerns accurately and keep them securely, in line with UK data protection law and our Privacy Policy. Sharing information to protect a child is always allowed.
