1. About these terms

These terms form the agreement between The Unseen Group Ltd and the parent or guardian who books a place for a child in The Unseen Academy's youth classes.

1.1 Us. The Unseen Group Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17111170, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ ("we", "us", "The Unseen Academy").

1.2 You. The parent or legal guardian who makes the booking ("you"). The child attending classes is referred to as "your child". You must be 18 or over and have parental responsibility for your child, or the permission of someone who does.

1.3 When the agreement starts. The agreement starts when we confirm your booking by email. Attending a free trial class does not commit you to booking a term.

1.4 Other documents. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data, and our photo and video consent form sets out how images of your child may be used. These terms apply only to our youth classes; our adult courses have their own terms.

2. Our classes

Classes run for one hour each Sunday, in terms of 10 weeks, at Om Nom (1st floor), Islington Square, 116N Upper Street, London N1 1QP.

2.1 Age groups. Each age group has its own class: 6–9, 10–13 and 14–17. We place your child in the group that suits their age and may, after talking to you, suggest a different group.

2.2 Class size. Each class has a maximum of 22 children, taught by two tutors in a large studio space.

2.3 Tutors. Classes are led by Lucy Mogilner and Emily Mogilner. If a tutor is unavailable, we may provide a suitably experienced and DBS-checked replacement.

2.4 Content. Our website describes the kind of work we do in class. The exact content of each class is decided by the tutors to suit the group and is not a fixed syllabus.

2.5 Term dates. We publish term dates before each term starts. Classes run on bank holiday weekends but not during school holidays.

2.6 Venue changes. We may move classes to another venue in the same area if we need to. We will give you as much notice as we can, by email or through the parents' WhatsApp group.

3. Free trial, booking and fees

Every new child can attend one free trial class before you decide whether to book a term.

3.1 Free trial. To book a trial, email us. Before the trial we will ask you to complete our enrolment form, including emergency contacts and any allergy or medical information. The trial is subject to space in the class.

3.2 Booking a term. Bookings are made by email. Your child's place is confirmed when we email you to confirm the booking and receive the term fee.

3.3 Term fee. The fee for each 10-week term is £180 (£150 plus VAT at 20%). It covers all 10 classes in the term. Any optional add-ons we offer are priced separately and are not included in the term fee; we will tell you the full price of an add-on, including VAT, before you book it. The fee for a booked term will not change once the booking is confirmed.

3.4 Payment. Each term is paid upfront. Pay the full term fee by bank transfer or PayPal before the first class of the term, using the details we send you. If a child joins partway through a term, we may charge for the remaining classes only.

3.5 Late payment. If the fee has not been paid by the first class of the term, we may release your child's place to another child. We will contact you before doing so.

3.6 Next term. Places are not automatically carried over. Before each term we will invite you to rebook, and existing students get priority for two weeks before places are offered to new families.

4. Cancellations, missed classes and refunds

You can cancel within 14 days of booking and get a refund; after that, term fees are not refunded.

4.1 14-day cooling-off period. You may cancel a booking within 14 days of the date we confirm it by emailing us.

  • If the term has not started, we will refund the full term fee.
  • If the term has already started, we will refund the term fee minus the cost of the classes that took place before you cancelled.

4.2 After 14 days. If you cancel after the cooling-off period, the term fee is not refunded. You can still withdraw your child at any time.

4.3 Missed classes. Classes your child misses, for any reason, are not refunded or carried over to another term. Please let us know in advance if your child will be absent.

4.4 Classes we cancel. If we cancel a class, we will either run a replacement class in the same term or refund the cost of that class.

4.5 How refunds are paid. Refunds are paid to the account or PayPal account you paid from, within 14 days of us agreeing the refund.

5. Arrival, drop-off and collection

Parents drop children off with a tutor, leave during the class, and collect them at the end.

5.1 Arrival. Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before the class starts. We are not responsible for children before a tutor has signed them in.

5.2 Lateness. Children can join up to 15 minutes after the start time. After that they may not join the class, so please stay with your child until a tutor has confirmed they can take part.

5.3 Drop-off. You must hand your child over to a tutor, who will sign them in. Parents and guardians do not stay in the studio during the class.

5.4 Collection. Please be on time to collect your child at the end of the class. We will only release your child to you or to an adult named on the enrolment form. If someone else needs to collect, tell us in writing beforehand. Children aged 14 or over may leave on their own only if you have given written permission.

5.5 Late collection. If you are running late, call or message us. A tutor will stay with your child. If a child is not collected within 30 minutes and we cannot reach you or any emergency contact, we will follow our safeguarding procedures, which may include contacting the local authority or the police.

5.6 Leaving early. If your child needs to leave before the end of a class, tell us in advance and collect them in person.

6. Health, safety and safeguarding

Your child's safety comes first, and we rely on you to give us accurate information.

6.1 Enrolment information. Before your child's first class you must complete our enrolment form, including emergency contacts and any allergies, medical conditions, medication or additional needs we should know about. Please tell us promptly if anything changes.

6.2 Medical emergencies. If your child is taken ill or injured, we will give first aid, contact you and, if needed, call the emergency services. By booking, you agree that we may seek urgent medical treatment for your child if we cannot reach you.

6.3 Safeguarding. Both tutors hold enhanced DBS checks and follow our safeguarding policy, which is published on our website. If we have a concern about a child's welfare, we will act in line with that policy.

6.4 Illness. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell or infectious.

6.5 Clothing and belongings. Children should wear comfortable clothes they can move in and bring a named water bottle. Please keep valuables at home; we are not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.

7. Behaviour

We want every child to feel safe to take creative risks, so we expect children to treat each other and the tutors with kindness and respect.

7.1 In class, children should:

  • listen to and follow tutors' instructions;
  • be supportive of other children, especially while they are performing;
  • not bully, exclude, or use unkind or discriminatory language;
  • keep phones switched off and put away unless a tutor says otherwise;
  • not eat during class (water is fine).

7.2 Choosing not to take part. A child can always say no to an exercise or scene they are not comfortable with, and tutors will respect that.

7.3 Filming. Children and parents must not film, record or photograph classes, other children or tutors.

7.4 If problems arise. If a child's behaviour is disruptive or unsafe, we will talk to the child first and then to you. If the problem continues, we may ask you to collect your child early or end the agreement under section 9.

8. Photos, video, showcases and WhatsApp

We only photograph or film your child if you have agreed on our photo and video consent form.

8.1 Consent. The consent form lets you choose how images may be used, for example internal use only, our website or our social media. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us.

8.2 Showcases. We may hold occasional showcases for families. At showcases, please photograph or film only your own child and do not post images of other children online.

8.3 No sharing with the industry without consent. We will not send footage, photos or details of your child to agents, casting directors or production companies unless you give separate written consent each time.

8.4 Confidentiality. Scripts, exercises and material we create for class are our work. Please do not publish them without our permission.

8.5 Parents' WhatsApp group. We run an optional WhatsApp group for parents and guardians to share class updates. Members can see each other's phone numbers. Please keep messages relevant and respectful; we may remove anyone who does not. If you prefer not to join, we will send updates by email instead.

9. Ending the agreement

Either side can end the agreement, and what happens to fees depends on when and why.

9.1 You. You can withdraw your child at any time by emailing us. Refunds follow section 4.

9.2 Us, without fault. We may end the agreement, or stop running a class or age group, by giving you at least 30 days' written notice. We will refund the cost of any classes in the booked term that we do not deliver.

9.3 Us, for behaviour or safety reasons. We may end the agreement straight away if a child's or parent's behaviour puts others at risk, or if serious or repeated problems continue after we have raised them with you (section 7.4). In that case we will refund the cost of any remaining classes, minus any reasonable costs this causes us.

9.4 Non-payment. If the term fee is not paid, we may end the agreement and release your child's place (section 3.5).

9.5 Afterwards. When the agreement ends, we will handle your child's personal data as our Privacy Policy describes.

10. Liability and events beyond our control

We take reasonable care of your child, but we cannot guarantee particular results from our classes.

10.1 What we are responsible for. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

10.2 Limits. Apart from 10.1, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid for the current term. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when the booking was made, or for travel costs to and from classes.

10.3 No guarantee of work. Our classes build confidence and performance skills. We do not promise that a child will gain roles, representation or places at other schools.

10.4 Events beyond our control. If we cannot run classes because of something outside our reasonable control, such as illness, venue closure, severe weather or a public health emergency, we will first try to reschedule or move classes online. If we cannot, we will offer a credit towards a future term or refund the cost of the classes we could not deliver, whichever you prefer.

11. Complaints and general terms

If something goes wrong, tell us first and we will try to put it right quickly.

11.1 Complaints. Email Lucy Mogilner at lucyolivia@theunseen.co.uk with what happened, how it affected you or your child, and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and send a full response once we have looked into it. If you are still unhappy, you can write to us at The Unseen Group Ltd, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, and we will review it again.

11.2 Notices. We will contact you by email at the address you gave when booking. Please send cancellations and other notices to information@theunseen.co.uk.

11.3 Changes to these terms. We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will not affect a term you have already booked unless the law requires it; the updated terms apply from your next booking.

11.4 Transfer. We may transfer our rights under this agreement to another business, for example a franchisee running classes in your area, as long as your rights are not reduced. We will tell you if this happens.

11.5 Other terms. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. No one other than you and us has rights under this agreement.

11.6 Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute.
